S.T.E.M. Summary Week 11 Term 2

In the last week of Term we had a little fun with genetics and an understanding of light and brains. We used the tests we had asked the parents to do to help see if there were patterns of genetic inheritance of colour blindness. The students did a colour blindness test and most of us who were colour blind also had parents who were colour blind! It showed that it was inherited. We then arranged some colours in shades to see how each of use viewed them and the older students then played around with some optical illusion worksheets. They found that our brains can trick us into seeing things that are not actually there. Both the younger and older students then watched a video which tricked our eyes into seeing the walls move. The link is here if you want to try it at home! 11 Mind blowing optical illusions (5 minute crafts): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcpliVYfEqk&t=280s.  Our lesson for the day was that the brain and eyes work together to help us see. Have a great holiday everyone! It’s been an awesome semester in S.T.E.M.
